** I hope you all enjoyed the free karate seminar; Thank you to 6th Degree black belt, Sensei Carl Hartter from our Bloomington, ISU, and IWU dojos as well!

** A special thank you goes to Sensei Hartman for setting up the wonderful professional photographer and helping me make sure all goes very well. We will have some memorable group photos and I hope you were able to get a picture with your new belt!

** Thank you to Donna Brewer, our registrar; with her skills of signing you all up, helping the judges with judging forms, rank records, diplomas, passport books,  and most critical, we get the right results to the right people!
** Thank you so much for the 12-14 black belts who “volunteered” ;-) to serve on the judges panel!!

Congratulations to all who were there, all who tested, and all who stuck their necks out to judge!
We had students from Pekin, Mapleton, and Kickapoo dojos, all together to share a very challenging and fun day.
We had no less than 37 enthusiastic students from ages 8 to 58, men , women , and children, all testing, and all nervous.
They all demonstrated progress and courage, facing the challenges of the test.

And extremely important, they reflected the high quality of teaching , mentoring, and leadership of their instructors, assistant instructors, and their sempai (seniors)!!!

Free clinic for all ranks and a special test for Central Illinois Shotokan 4thkyu purple belts through 1stkyu brown belts involving all CIS karate clubs.

Central Illinois Shotokan members

Senseis Rick Brewer and Carl Hartter, 6thDan ASKA & WUKO, Directors of the Central Illinois Shotokan, and members of the American Shotokan Karate Alliance (ASKA) Shihankai andBoard of Directors, would like to extend this Special Invitation.

There will be a special test on August 7th for Central Illinois Shotokan 4thkyu purple belts through 1stkyu brown belts involving all CIS karate clubs.

The location is at the Mapleton Illinois Rec-Center gym.

From 11-12 o’clock there will be free clinic for all ranks taught by Sensei Brewer and Sensei Hartter

The test will start at approximately 12:30

Do to the special nature of this test, only purple and brown belts will be testing and  brown belts who are 2ndkyu and above will have a unique opportunity to test for Shodan.

** Anyone eligible to participate in a Shodan test must come prepared to submit all American Shotokan Karate Alliance ASKA, Dan Rank Registration forms and fees, immediately upon notification of passing.

On Thursday, July 1, 2010, members of the Peoria County Shotokan Karate 4-H Club were judged by Sensei Oedewaldt on their 4-H Karate project presentations. Each of the members gave a short presentation on a Shotokan Karate related topic of their choice before the judge, classmates and parents. As part of their project they also had to create a poster board, scrapbook or written report. All of the members gave impressive presentations and received A ratings (Blue Ribbons).  Nick Danel received a Superior rating for his project and Alex Pullen received the Class Champion Trophy.
